A close shave

I think the thing I would hate most about being a guy, apart from the belching and farting and all the hours spent watching football, would be having to shave every single day. It’s bad enough to having to shave your legs and other ’bits'for special occasions or just in case you get a nice warm day in the summer, but every day would really suck. Not only would I have to get up a few minutes earlier on a morning, but imagine the damage it would do to my sensitive skin! No amount of male moisturiser would be able to fix all the scraping and chafing daily shaving would cause. And what makes it worse for most men is that they don’t even think about the damage that blunt razors, cheap soap and slap-dash jobs is doing to their face.

There are a few guys out there who take their shaving seriously, however, and my husband has been lucky enough to meet one of them through his work. He still uses old-school razors with replaceable blades and whips up a lather with a little bristle brush in a pot. He swears it’s the best way to get a decent shave, does less damage to your skin and can even be quicker, once you get used to the razor and have stopped slicing yourself to pieces, of course. My husband’s first attempt left the bathroom looking like the site of a massacre!

There are even online videos and instructions showing you, step-by-step, how to get the perfect shave. I found this great online printing website that would reproduce all the images in colour, so hopefully there’ll be less blood next time my husband decides to have another go with his new toy! If the results are successful, I might even start using the razor for shaving my legs – just don’t tell the blokes that’s what I’m planning!
